the Project that Ate My Time

Friday, March 31st, 2006

A few of you guessed: It’s a podcast.

Go check it out.

We’ve been working on it for awhile, and now that Episode Zero is live, we’ve got to start all over again for Episode One. But we’re happy! Yay!

I need a nap.

Sockapal000za, another finished object!

Ok, somewhere along the line my whole schedule of blog topics went out the window. Gimme awhile and I will get my act back together on that.

Rumors that I am working on a “secret project” have been circulating. My quietishness on here and my dodging-of-questions seem to have given me away… Well I’m approaching the time where I can talk more freely about it, so hold tight for news :)

Since I’ve neglected my blog so, I figured I would post my finished things as I get them done. You know, to have a little content.

Pattern: Simply Lovely Lace Socks; by Karen Baumer; Interweave Knits Spring 2006
Yarn: Gems Opal (100% Merino, 225yd/50h) in Pink Panther, less than 1 skein.
Comments: So, my Sockapal000za socks are done. I think. For now. I keep feeling like they are not good enough, but everyone else seems to think that my sock pal will love them so…. Yeah. If I don’t freak out and change my mind, these are them. Yay! I do think they are adorable. I may make myself some at some point.

SPS

Although I have been slack about it the last few weeks, I try to spend an hour or so in the “fitness center” of our apartment complex each evening we don’t have something else going on. It is a challenge to stay motivated though, when (a) the managers a coupla months ago apparently decided they needed to blast their easy listening/soft rock/country music in there which makes it hard for those of us who bring our mp3 players or those of us who would choose to use the TV that the MANAGERS THEMSELVES provided and (b) I can’t seem to focus on one activity for too long and get bored in there quite easily.

(click for more SPS participants. Hopefully they will have participated this week…)

Finished Object, Finished Object!

Boy I dragged this hat out as long as I possibly could. It seems I haven’t been able to sit still long enough to focus on counting for this pattern.

Pattern: Hermione’s cable-and-bobble hat by Lauren Kent
Yarn: Cascade 220 Wool in “Ruby” using size US7 needles. (16 inch circular, 40 inch magic loop, and DPNs. I kept switching becuase neither felt comfortable. Now I realize it was probably because I’m used to US1 needles.)
Comments: Fun hat, fun knit. Perhaps not appropriate as a purse project for those of us who can’t count and visit at the same time…

layouts

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

So my computer issues seem to be ongoing. I am working on a longer-term solution to that. I’m online though, so here are my layouts from this weekend finally.

I believe the theme of this weekend was quick and easy. Didn’t think too much about these as I just wanted to get them done, but I am happy with them.

Sigh. Here is where my scanner quit cooperating. I went outside and took pictures of the rest.

Now. I’m ready to go knit until my fingers go numb.

I’m here, I’m here!

Yes, my computer issues are sorted out for the time being. And here I am with my self-portrait!

I’ve been scrapbooking all weekend. Crazy huh? I only made 11 pages, though. And I may be persuaded to post some tomorrow. At the moment they are in the trunk of my car waiting for the rain to stop…

Friday Snapshot

Friday, March 10th, 2006

Every Monday evening we drive up to Guthrie for Jamie’s dance class. While Jamie dresses in black and pink and spins in circles in the studio, Cian isn’t usually content to just sit in the foyer. When the temperature isn’t too low he and Justin end up making short expeditions to nearby sights downtown.

His latest hot spot is what I was told were “squares!”

knit, knit, yarn

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Hey, its crafty day!

My crafting this week has been slow and casual as I fit it in between things I’m working on that are mostly non-crafty.

Hatmione is gradually climbing taller.

Did my first bobbles. Big fun! Still love the color.

I got itchy so I have started what is potentially sock1 for my SockapalOOOza sock pal.

Simply Lovely Lace Socks; by Karen Baumer; Interweave Knits - Spring 2006; Gems Opal yarn in “Pink Panther.”
I’m glad that my sock pal has about the same foot measurements as me because the circumference in the pattern is a tad small. If they end up fitting around my foot, they’ll fit hers too so yay! (Isn’t that lace pattern CUTE?!)

I have been spinning on my pretty drop spindle for a coupla weeks and just last night plied what I had. Today, I have my first skein.

This pic is pre-wash. It is hanging and drying as I type. There are some rough spots, but I got much better as I went along. Much of what I came out with was a very thin and pretty yarn. The plied, finished yarn is interesting with all of the thick spots and deformities mixed in with the thin stuff.

Well, that’s all I have this week. Sit N Stitch tonight!
