evening walk self-portrait

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

I had a shot where my iPod was in the foreground, but it was blurry and Justin felt it wasn’t good for the overall composition. So yeah.

More SPS peeps.

Some finished bookmarks.

I sort of used this pattern. I didn’t have it in front of me and just did what I thought I remembered it suggesting.

I have gotten *so* lame about my posting here on the ole blog.

To make up for it, here are my finished socks from last week. They are named Oliver.

Pattern: Made it up. Worked toe-up over 80 stitches on Size 0 Addi Turbos.
Yarn: Gryffindor yarn from Sunshine Yarns
Comments: I got lazy and didn’t exactly match up the stripes, but I like them anyway. I did cut the bars out of the toes and heels. It makes for a good look.

An outtake from an attempt to get a picture of a headband I knit last week.

Notice the 2 dead computers in the background.
And go look at other sps-ers.

Shall I share a little internet wealth?

Yea? Ok!

Yesterday I found the (niftily designed) website of Alton Brown. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to type in altonbrown.com before. Check out the “salt cellar” in the shop. Faboo!

I also joined a reading group at the Leaky Lounge. I have been dying to reread (although I expect I will follow the discussion casually, rather than the intensive study I want to eventually do).

And just for fun: a Handwriting meme, found here and originated here. Write the pangram, take a picture, post it. And tell me about it :)

thinking

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

It has been a long time since I have written much of anything in the way of an update huh? Letsee.

While I have been busy with… things, I realize that I am constantly in thought. Crafting has always seemed to put me into a thoughtful trance and I am able to consider things with much clarity as I pass my needle through fabric, or I adhere and smooth paper. Now recently, even when I’m doing something more active, I am considering my surroundings, recent events, news, and new ideas.

Lately I’m thinking about Jamie’s first season of dance, as the school year nears its end. Miss Nancy has chosen the kids’ recital costumes, which are adorable, by the way. And although I’ve been peeking into the studio here and there, I’ve yet to be able to actually envision the little 4-year-old girls in her group actually pulled together and performing in unision. The unison thing will not likely happen this year, however cute they are and will be.

Lately I’ve been thinking it is time for a Noisy Construction update. Nothing much has changed visibly since the last time I posted an update. I do know, however, that they have been working at installing all the plumbing, running all the electrical, and putting up a fence for the poor people to the left side who have their backyards right up against the site. I’ve witnessed inspectors coming and going, which could either be a good or bad sign. Today they’re out there moving out the big mounds of earth and re-flattening the spots where I think the actual shops will be.

And SCORE! One of the shops will be a coffee place, according to a sign they have added near the road.

Lately, I’m thinking constantly about the CraftBorg, as well as Fangirlin’. I’m taking in LOADS of information, tinkering with still new-to-me technology, and jotting down ideas often because they come to me often.

Lately I’m thinking about how to make sure I get in my knitting (puh-lenty of new projects I want to start), stitching (have totally neglected it lately), reading (Ugh, man, I just want to READ!!), while learning new things and prepping for the above. But then, I’ve always been working on trying to balance it all.

Lately I’m mourning for a dear friend’s baby girl who went to heaven completely too early. I am wishing I could be with my friend right now.

So much to think about.

Fangirlin’, Episode #2: Thank Godness for Fanfiction went up Saturday.

CraftBorg, Episode One went up Sunday night.

Enjoy. And leave feedback. And send me gifts.
That is all.
