The Amazing Lace!
Posted on May 15th, 2006 at 10:42 pmMy teammate and I are but regular, everday people. Neither of us are the competitive type; We desire to simply just be.
She is Peacock Feathers Shawl. She is red, and is knit from silky Jaggerspun Zephyr wool.

It is early in her development, but her voice is mighty and calls me to knit her into the beauty that she is destined to be.
I am an average, but determined knitter.

While not competitive in nature, I am perpetually compelled to challenge myself with new materials and techniques. Peacock is my first substantial lace project knit with true laceweight. Knitting her shall prove my self — to myself.
Aside from the challenge, why have she and I come together? I won’t try to explain it. She and I both are looking forward to witnessing what she can eventually become. A haiku:
wool and silk laceweight
red, for mom and for myself
knit and remember

It already looks beautiful. I visualize your mom watching you knit over your shoulder and smiling.

Great haiku — love the last line in particular. By the way, once you’ve finished this shawl, you will definitely no longer be an average knitter!
