sweater, sweaters

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Well, Ribby is done, except for the zipper. She’s very comfy.

Since I had five balls too many for Ribby, I trucked up to the LYS yesterday to return it and do a little shopping with the difference. I came out with yarn for the blue sweater the boy has been asking me repeatedly to knit for him. Picture this in solid Navy.

Shawl? What shawl?

CraftBorg, Episode Six is out!

I have finished sweater pieces!

Methinks I’ll be assembling today. Happy, happy.

And if I get done quickly

I can make this into an ornament!

my humble sock stash

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

I told Julie that I’d show her pics of my stash, so I figured I would share with the class.

Methinks I need a new basket for the sock yarn (and the bits of handspun that I had shoved in there with it.)

rollerblades

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

Been playing with these things a little in the last few days:

(SPS pic!)

We bought them for me about, oh, 4 years ago. Played with them some then as well until my clutzy self took an awe-inspiring fall and, quite shook up, stuffed them into the closet. They’re in fantastic shape though, still (especially the brake thingy–barely a scratch on it as I still can’t properly use the thing). I have been in get-in-shape mode lately and since I did really want to get this rollerblading thing down pat, I brought them out to break up my power-walking sessions a little bit.

I just need to find a more level place to practice on. If you see me coming on these things, please get out of the way. Quickly.

Oh yeah, socks.

I finished these quite awhile ago but I keep forgetting to post them. Surprised? I figured not. Anywho:

Gilderoy, named for Gilderoy Lockhart.

Yarn: Sunshine Yarns “Starry Night”
Pattern: Made it up. 2.0mm Addi Turbo needles. Magic Loop. Knit toe-up using the Magic Cast-On, alternating 2×2 rib, short row heel, worked leg ’til I felt like stopping.
Comments: Nothing like a snug fitting ribbed sock in fun colors with tight, tiny stitches. Mmmm.

Ooooh, aaaah.

It looks like fireworks, or dandelions. Either way, very summery!

Make one here. I found it here.

Uh, yeah.

If I had really put any thought into it, I could have taken a picture of myself at Knit Guild today. Or shopping at Michaels. Or hanging at the pool this morning.

But I didn’t. So Justin just took one of me, and there you are.

Me. With the packaging of part of Justin’s Father’s Day gift in my mouth. Don’t ask. I don’t know myself…

(Maybe there will be other, better, self-portraits out there today.)

Weekend Update

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

with me, Quietish!

Here is the sweater at 4 balls worth. One whole back, one left front panel, and part of a right front. Riveting!

Lots of knitting and secret project crafting is going on/has gone on. As well as some Star Trek watching, Yahtzee playing, etc, etc. In a bit I will pop out and power walk. Or hit the eliptical. Whichever feels best at the time.

And then tomorrow, Father’s Day! Happy Dad day to all present and future daddies! Don’t know what we’ll be doing yet, but if Justin gets his way, it will likely be something educational.

Also, if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by the OKC Knitter’s Guild meeting tomorrow. The guild meets every 3rd Sunday at the Belle Isle Library at 3:00pm. Big special announcement tomorrow. Very exciting!

sweater update, sheep, cuteness

Friday, June 16th, 2006

I have continued to happily knit along on my Ribby sweater. Here it is after 2 balls:

You know I really love this yarn. The texture, the color. Especially the color. Unfortunately, though, I can never get it quite right in the picture. The above it a little too electric to be accurate. Then this picture I took just now in the natural light looks too dull, too sage. I like sage really, but that’s not how I would describe this color. Picture something in between.

That’s where I’m at after 3 balls.

Something fun I noticed though is that the sweater, when laid flat on a coffee table at Barnes and Noble during an evening knitting session, is a lovely backdrop for Lantern Moon sheep. Shelly’s and mine seem to like to frolick together, judging by the way hers stowed away in the knitting bag with mine one time a coupla weeks ago.

So, I’m about to get back to it. Audiobooks (and/or Podcasts) plus knitting equal love.

And a bonus cuteness:

I think they like eachother.
