Blue Sweater
Posted on July 4th, 2006 at 2:53 pmIt has begun. My lifelong impersonation of Molly Weasley. I have completed the first sweater in what I’m sure will be a long procession of knitted items for my family.
I give you “Blue Sweater” which was specifically requested by my darling boy.

Yarn: Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Midnight, which doesnt actually appear on the website. Hm. Maybe that’s why it was 30% off at the yarn store…
Pattern: “Catch Sweater” from Miss Bea’s Playtime by Louisa Harding.
Comments: I really like the Cotton/Acrylic yarn a whole lot. Very easy to work with and not too hard on the hands, which one might expect from both cotton and acrylic. I made it big enough that he should be able to wear it next year and made the length just a tad longer as the dimensions have it wider than I think is proportionate to what they listed the length as.
I also have a ball of a contrast color, as I originally thought I would at least duplicate stitch in a monogram to make it more of an actual Weasley sweater, but I haven’t decided yet if I will do that now.

I love the sweater. He looks very handsome too.
But I’ve notice that unlike Mrs Weasley, you have sewen Cian initial into his sweater (or “jumper” as we would say over here, and in the world of Harry Potter). ;)

My goodness, he looks awfully grown up! What a cutie. :) The sweater looks great, too - while it’s quite simple as it, that makes it a pretty universal do-it-all garment for a boy’s wardrobe, and every handsome guy needs a knit with love sweater to top off any outfit!
