Having fallen off the monthly-ornament stitching wagon, I’m slowly working towards redeeming myself.

Freebie from The Workbasket
I saw CraftBorg listener, Michelle, had stitched it and made it my newest small project.

Now, back to knitting…
Edit: Scratch that. Chewed some fingers entirely too much today and I can’t knit. Chess it is.

Mmmm salad.

Romaine lettuce + red onion + cucumbers + 1 tbsp. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing (because someone forgot to buy Fat Free) = 2 Weight Watchers points.

(Other SPS-ers. Speaking of: If you are on the list and don’t want to be, let me know. If you aren’t on the list but want to be, let me know. Thanks.)

save me from myself.

So I went into the yarn store for 2 reasons today. The first reason was that a small group of us were gathering to present a certain special lady with a blanket we’d been getting together for her for a coupla months.

Unfortunately, I don’t have well, any pictures of Susan, or the blanket, or many of the the gals at all. Reason being, miss Ginevra accompanied me to the meeting and. Well. Photography and puppies just don’t mix well. I’ll let ya know when the others who did take pictures, post them. I did get a couple though, when I was relieved for a bit.

They’re blurry, of course. The puppy in the picture almost always guarantees that. Yes, it does make sense. Don’t look at me like that. The camera goes funny when there is a puppy in the frame. But see, now Kay can’t complain that I don’t post enough pictures of puppies. There’s even one with HER in it. On the left. Shelly (the puppies’ Grandma, she says) is on the right.

Edit: Kay posted pics of Ginny.
Another edit: Susan posted pics of the blanket.
Edit again: Kay posted more blanket pics.

The other reason I went into the yarn store is that Jamie has been begging for me to start a sweater for her. When questioned, she requested “hot pink” with “pink buttons.” So I went in looking for a simple cardigan pattern (maybe with a hood) that was simple and not too fussy. No problem right?

Then I saw this:

Sigh.

Everyone (who are now calling me “RoseMolly” by the way. I rather like it.) is sure I’ll get it done in no time. However, on 3.0mm needles, I’m not so sure…

Edit: Swatched. Make that 2.5mm needles.

Blue Sweater

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

It has begun. My lifelong impersonation of Molly Weasley. I have completed the first sweater in what I’m sure will be a long procession of knitted items for my family.

I give you “Blue Sweater” which was specifically requested by my darling boy.

Yarn: Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Midnight, which doesnt actually appear on the website. Hm. Maybe that’s why it was 30% off at the yarn store…
Pattern: “Catch Sweater” from Miss Bea’s Playtime by Louisa Harding.
Comments: I really like the Cotton/Acrylic yarn a whole lot. Very easy to work with and not too hard on the hands, which one might expect from both cotton and acrylic. I made it big enough that he should be able to wear it next year and made the length just a tad longer as the dimensions have it wider than I think is proportionate to what they listed the length as.
I also have a ball of a contrast color, as I originally thought I would at least duplicate stitch in a monogram to make it more of an actual Weasley sweater, but I haven’t decided yet if I will do that now.

first self-portraits for the beginning of…gulp…

July. July is such an ugly word. Heat. Bugs. Hot. Too hot.

Which is why I suppose this portrait is odd. Me. Wearing a sweater.

I had just been “modeling” Ribby at the Knit-In yesterday at GY.

When I unloaded the camera a bit ago, I had a hard time deciding between the previous pic and this one:

Me. Disgruntled because hundreds of idiots thought the best place to shoot off their dangerous fireworks was right in the walking path where I have been spending most of my evenings lately. I shot them all dirty looks, spent a few minutes sitting (pictured) in the grass and finishing a chapter in my current audiobook, shot them more dirty looks, and took my car home before the masses parked me in. As if I were there for anything but my regular exercise. Hmph!
