crucial Ariann update

I can’t wait to get her blocked, so the lace bits will stop sproinging back together and I can keep her closed.

Having a good time down in Katy.
Knitting like crazy on Ariann.
2 more inches of collar to go and then I’ll attempt to find somewhere to block her.
Justin is in Florida now; Left yesterday.
On Sunday, though, he dragged me into a haunted house.

I hate haunted houses.
Especially ones whose entrances appear to be bloody, gaping holes in giants’ skulls.
Kids are doing good.
The G-Parents had bought the kids bikes.
Jamie loves hers.

She’s very good.
Cian does not want to wear a helmet, so he has yet to ride his.
Halloween today, yay!
We have pumpkins to carve and costumes to assemble.
Back to knitting for now though, I guess.
Here’s a pic to make up for missing SPS this week.

I had intended to make a more thoughtful post, complete with pictures and witty things to say. However, it is late and sadly I fear that if I don’t get to bed soon, tomorrow will be a less-than-enjoyable day.
The fam and I are heading to Katy, TX tomorrow to be with more fam as Justin will be working on some RADAR in Florida from Monday to Friday. The kids will get to trick or treat with the Grandparents and I will get to bore my poor mom-in-law to death with an endless stream of knitting blather.
I shall have Ariann with me for the car ride and despite a recent unfortunate ripping out of several inches of her, I believe she will be completed in the next couple of days. I should be able to get quite a bit done on the car ride down, anyway. I’ve also packed the yarn and my plans for the next sweater I’m knitting, for Kelly’s cool kid, T.
I of course will have access to my email and the blog, etc. So I need not say goodbye. If you are one of those I know in the Houston area, feel free to email me about my plans (or lack thereof) and to poke me for my cell phone number.
For those lurking around Mustang, OK, hoping to break in, steal our things (which don’t amount to much value, I must say) and rifle through our sock drawers, be warned. We have 2 scary attack kitties, as well as a very grumpy downstairs neighbor that you will surely want to steer clear of.
With a little green leaf bead added to each :)

Here is a whole lot of them drying. Fun!

Sorry for the quietishness this week. I’ll post more before the weekend!
Just a bit ago I was taking a second look at the high res pic of Evanna Lynch from the Order of the Phoenix movie to observe the details of her radish earrings closer. Again I was impressed by the beadwork but then I scrolled down a bit and did a double take at her tie.
I lightened it up so I could see better and is it just me or is that a slightly different color between the silver bars? Brown? Perhaps a nod to the canon Blue and Bronze?
Interesting anyway. I’m off to make some radish earrings.

A sweater for Children in Common, which you can learn more about at Care Wool.

Pattern: Knit with set-in sleeves using some numbers from The Knitter’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns. It’s should fit a 2 year old or so.
Yarn: Cascade 220 in 8903 in Primavera.
Comments: First time I tried a hemmed edging. Me loves. Very much. I didn’t use it on the neck though; It was a little clunky for such a small sweater.
A proper Finished Object post. Pictures by the lovely Shelly.

Pattern: Fiddlesticks’ Peacock Feathers Shawl
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Garnet on size 3 Addi Turbos, then KnitPicks Classic Circulars
Comments: I am in awe of this piece of knitting. Surely someone like me couldn’t have done this. It stayed in my lap as a big ole lump of yarn until I bound off and it was a totally different animal. Wow.
I also have to say that I’m glad I went down a needle size. Not only were the stitches nice and tinier, but the shawl *still* came out large. Nearly 80 inches wide and 40something from the top to the bottom tip.
