Hogwarts House Friendship Bracelets

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

While in Phoenix Rising, I handed out a few of these friendship bracelets. I hadn’t had time to make loads of them, but I did manage to friend a few special people anyway. I thought it’d be nice to share directions to make them.

As some of you know, miss Jamie has her dance recital coming up next weekend. Saturday will make for a long day of stage rehearsal and then a couple of hours cooling our heels backstage while the other classes do their thing between her numbers that evening.

If you happen to find yourself free and nearby Guthrie, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 2nd at 7:00 pm, please consider popping in to the recital at the Jr. High Auditorium. It would make both she and I so glad to have someone in the audience to look for.

Here’s Jamie trying on her ballet outfit when it came in. She’s quite excited.

more overachiever than rockstar

The socks for my Sockapalooza 4 pal are done, over 2 months early. Don’t be too incredibly impressed though; Julie finished hers before I finished mine.

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock in “Rockstar” in the old put-up (325 yards)
Comments:
I enjoyed knitting this pattern. It is easy to memorize and knit over so few stitches per round. You know I love that. My pal’s measurements are very similar to mine. Just slightly longer in the foot and a bit narrower. So while these are a tad snug on me, I am sure they will fit my pal just fine.

I have a few more gifties I want to get together for my pal before the August mail date. With the knitting part out of the way though, I think I can manage it. Dontcha think?

Phoenix Rising sps

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Sorry about the red eye. I would totally fix that if I were at home, but you know. I’m in New Orleans.

Here’s Kelly and I before… some party. Can’t remember which. I guess we’ll call this both her and my portrait for this week.

I’ll be home tomorrow night. Then I will attempt to sleep for a few days. It won’t work, but it’s a nice thought.

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I’m all packed and ready to head to New Orleans and Phoenix Rising where I will get to be with friends, be surrounded by HP goodness, and be extra nerdy. Hoorah!

I will be gone from tomorrow morning til Monday late. I’m not bringing the computer, but I might be able to sneak onto someone’s to check my email and post a bit. My SPS might be late. I’ll have my cell if I am needed.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

No, not me. The sock.

Sock 1 of the socks for my Sockapalooza pal was finished earlier today at Hastings in Norman. Yay! These are RPM socks made with Blue Moon Fiber Arts - Socks that Rock in the Rockstar colorway.

And it is Sunday so it is time for an SPS.

Fred and George socks

a sockish homage to Fred and George Weasley

Fred and George 1

When I was presented with the challenge of making a pair of socks out of 2 different colors of sock yarn in single-sock denominations, the first thing that came to mind was stripes of course. My planning also quickly included a jogless-stripe and the switching of the main color in the second sock to make sure there was enough yarn for each sock. They’re knit from the same pattern but not quite identical, much like the Weasley twins.

Fred and George 2

This pattern was written in magic-loop method, but can easily be done with double-pointed needles if preferred.
