doll quilt
Posted on July 10th, 2007 at 4:24 pmSo I made a doll quilt, and took my time getting the binding on it.
Now that I look at it, I should say that it is made up of fabrics that Julie sent to me in a fit of get-rid-of-everything. I love them and when I came across them while rifling around in the closet I just had a sudden urge to make something.
Why a doll quilt? Well I don’t think I’m really all that much of a quilter, but sometimes have the urge to make something. I’m not really into potholders or place mats, but the small size is ideal for someone like me who would not usually devote weeks or months to a quilting project.
The online crafting community has recently seemed to explode with doll quilts. A quick search through my bookmarks shows plenty of inspiration:

Fun! After all the HP craziness has passed and once my current projects have either been finished, I’m thinking I might like to play around with applique. Wheee!
As a bonus, here’s what happens if I don’t pick up my posterboard backdrop directly after I use it.

That’s a cute quilt.
And that’s the reason why all of the DH’s posterboard backdrops have claw marks and teeth holes in them, lol.

So that is the finished product! Looks good honey. I see the kitten still has the required energy to help out.

This may be just the kind of project that I need to use up some of my fabric stash without investing a major time commitment. I found you on Ravelry, and we seem to have a lot in common. I look forward to keeping up with your blog! ;)

Ooh, she’s getting big, isn’t she?! I just love the doll quilt, I’ve been inspired to want to make some too. Love the fabrics you chose for yours and the quilting is great - I love the gridlike effect.

Kitty funnies are always nice. She was trying to hunt the poster board for you.
And doll quilts are always fun since they do not take up too much time to create and they do not use that much fabric. I like them since they allow you to try out a pattern first.
