Luna talks a lot. Thought I’d letcha see.

The kids can be heard in the background as well. And you get a peek of craftiness.

Here’s hoping I have more bloggable stuff to post this week.

I can totally get used to this.

Luna 3 Luna4

Luna 2 Luna 1

Meet our freshly adopted, remarkably vocal, difficult to name, happiness-prompting kitten.

Think she’s cute? Too bad; You’ll have to get your own. Luna comes from the Paul’s Valley shelter (PAWS) and there are many more where she came from. And please remember: Spay and Neuter!

mostly crafty this and that

I’m not doing much at the moment so I thought I could spend some time sharing a few crafty things.

The other day I got a message from my pal Roberta that she received one of her baby gifts, so now I can share it!

Pattern:
baby bonnet from Last Minute Knitted Gifts
Yarn:
Dalegarn Falk, leftover from Jamie’s sweater. (It will be awhile before I go through all of it methinks)
Comments:
I totally dig this pattern and can see myself making it many times over with different yarns. The i-cord edging is sort of a pain, but rather cute and understated. I thought the other day that at some point I’d like to try a little crocheted ruffle on there as well.

On Saturday night, shortly before the trip to the ER, I finished a larger-child-sized vest for CIC/Care Wool.

Pattern:
None. Used the Handy Book of Sweater Patterns again.
Yarn:
Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride in Silver Grey.
Comments:
Yes, I know its very grey. I picked it out when I stood and stared at the wall of it at Gourmet Yarn, couldn’t get excited about any of the other colors, and decided I needed a color I hadn’t used in awhile.

Other knitting:

  • Hedwig1 is still the same as it was when we were done at the ER on Saturday Sunday morning.
  • I’ve started another gift project, but haven’t decided if I should share it yet.
  • Last night my desire to sew something was fairly strong, so I set to work binding a little book made from playing cards and paper that Alchemia painted years and years ago.

And then, because productiveness and creativity is attacking from all sides, I drew a quick little ATC. Heee.

And lastly, I walked another mile last night (on solid ice, mind you, so it’s really quite a lot of exercise!), putting me at

Frustrated that I haven’t gotten much further. (13 miles)

    cats and knitting, how surprising

It seems my posts are becoming more and more infrequent. I suppose I ought to get back on the ball. Let’s see, what’s going on with me this week?

Justin is out of town again. So it’s just me and the kids. And cats. And dogs. Before you get any ideas, let me warn any of you would-be robbers. I believe I could cause great damage if someone were after my yarn, or appeared to be after it. Just sayin’.

Besides doing kid stuff, I have plenty of knitting to keep me occupied. Hm, you know I haven’t really shared many in-progress pics lately. Just finished things. Well, here you are:

Some socks out of Heavyweight Socks That Rock:

    New shawl, Icarus:

So I’ll be fairly happy. And if I can scrape some time at night to play some games with Justin online, I’ll be even happier ;)

Something lovely came in the mail the other day; I got a letter from my cats’ vet office telling me that Callie had been selected as their “Cool Cat” for December. I hadn’t “submitted” her, but did happen to leave a photo with Dr. Peakheart the last time we were in. You can see it on the website, but I took a screenshot for viewing later, as they appear to change that page each month :)

    more Mittens for Akkol

    Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Meeper played Vanna today. He was so excited he passed out and slept right through it.

Pattern: Squirrel and Oak Mittens by Hello Yarn
Yarn:Dalegarn Falk, leftovers from Jamie’s sweater
Comments: I had planned to do something simple for the CIC challenge this month, but every time I say that I end up with something slightly more involved. LOL I enjoyed making these though and the yarn is so soft and warm after its been washed and blocked.

    knit, purrrr

I’ve spent a part of this afternoon sitting at the computer here with my sock and listening to podcasts. Just a moment ago I was knitting along, soothed by the gorgeous voice of Brenda Dayne, just loving being a knitter. Then I looked over and saw Milka. She had her head up but her eyes were drifting closed. When I took out my camera, she stretched and curled happily into this position:

It seems she finds Brenda to be comforting as well. Knitty kitty.

    Jamie says:

    “I’m hibes (5) years old.”

Cake for breakfast. I think this is my favorite new birthday tradition.

Next time I’ll have more forethought and make a tastier cake. Jamie doesn’t complain though; She specifically asked for Powerpuff Girls on her cake.

Meeper helped unload Jamie’s new Littlest Pet Shop playset.

He took care of the box while Justin dealt with “the most twistie ties ever.”

    Having fun today.

Beats me if I can remember where the last 4.5 years or so went. Guess I’ll console myself with some cake.

    SPS on get this: Sunday!

Slipping in at the last minute with my SPS.

Here’s a fun picture of me with our rather large Cat, Demetrius. He’s better known as Meeper, because while you’d expect him to have a great thunderous MEOW, he actually just makes a pathetic meeping noise.

Other fun things of note: (because I’d rather call them that than “ugly background clutter”) The jogging stroller that we haven’t used in years but needed to be hauled out of Justin’s trunk so we could pack suitcases and stuff in there. Justin’s laptop case in front of that. The table we got from Amy. Justin’s work junk on said table. Box to send to Kelly behind that. Various other junk surrounding. Bit of the map of Vvardenfell we have taped to a cabinet in the kitchen.

I just revealed entirely too much about our college-dormroom-like lifestyle.

Because Justin finds it amusing when I bundle up to go on my evening walks, here’s another:

And look: A cute baby hat I knit in less than an hour for whatever charity Shelly finds that needs knit hats.
