Another Borg post is up (CLICK) but because I really don’t want to neglect this blog because I’m doing stuff over there too, I’ll share photos with you here. The hive only got video, peh!

Well actually first, I must mention that the Leaky Cauldron July Craft-Along (CLICK) opened today. Please go there and craft along with us! I’m hoping to get my supplementary video walkthrough up sooooon.

I made a needlebook the other day. I wanted to see if I could do it. I’m very pleased with it.

I also finished a gift for a really cool kid who’s special to me and happens to like Harry Potter.

I used block patterns by Jennifer / Ofenjen.

Also, I thought I’d share a cute drawing Jamie made. Her skills are getting much more refined. (It used to be all big-headed birds, all the time.)

Dude, click this image and read. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

letter from JO

I know, crazy right? I got a letter from J. K. Rowling. I can’t even believe it. I got it Friday before my trip to “camp” with the Flemings, so I’ve had a few days to cool down. A little. Wow. Wow.

Here’s what I made. (This is the sooper sekrit Crafty Witch Project tm previously mentioned here and here.)

Hi all,

This is Rosemary, aka Quietish on the Leaky Lounge. I, along with my
fellow Crafty Witches, would like to invite you to join us for The
Leaky Cauldron’s first ever Craft-Along!

Starting in May, Leaky Crafts will be hosting a new Craft-Along every
other month in the Harry Potter Crafts forum on the Leaky Lounge.
There is a special forum where members can participate in the
Craft-Along and share with others, here:
http://www.leakylounge.com/Contests-and-Craft-Alongs-f304.html

We begin May 1st and our first project will be to make our own wands,
following a tutorial for a simple wand, with a few options.

I hope you all will grab your supplies and craft-along with us. Check
out the Crafts Feature page on The Leaky Cauldron for more information.

Cheers,
Rosemary

Update and Crafty-Witch stuff

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Hey, all. I’m around, and owe you an update. Although I should point out that one could better keep track of me on Twitter (where my user name is Quietish, of course), as I can post small updates from my phone where ever I am at the time.

Letsee.. Justin is going out of town again tomorrow, this time to Anchorage, Alaska. While I’m not pleased about this, Justin’s happy dancing all over the place. He keeps it to a minimum when I’m around, though.

I’ve been keeping busy on the crafty front. My main project for the time being is to make a series of Harry Potter themed gifties for my fellow Crafty Witches, all of whom have been so kind and generous to me. I feel it is time to repay the kindness. No pics though, teehee. Naughty Crafties!

Speaking of the Crafty Witches. Check out the news article on Leaky News about an upcoming feature to Leaky Crafts. Craft-Alongs! My primary job is now preparing and hosting Craft-Alongs every other months (and coming soon, seasonal Crafty Contests) on Leaky and the Leaky Lounge. Please feel free to join us starting May 1st. If you’re not already a member on the Lounge, it’s easy to register an account. Our project for May is a simple wand with some fun customizations.

I’m off again, zooooom.

100th Day

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Hey, I was crafty this week last night the wee hours of this morning.

For the 100th day of school, and I know this sounds familiar to the all the moms with school aged kids, Jamie’s school (or at least the K and first graders) has a 100-things project. Jamie had to wear a shirt to day with 100 things on it.

I cut a bunch of hearts out of felt with my Sizzix (which I then donated to Jamie’s teacher because it was the only time I’ve used the thing in a few years!) and tied them all onto the front of the shirt.

Although a few of them came off within the first 10 minutes of class, she seemed to like it!

still walking to Rivendell

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I promise at some point soon I will do some craftblogging again. At the moment I am knitting and stitching a bit here and there and of course I continue to approach everything in a craftminded sort of way. I’ve just been bad about not putting it together in some way that’s presentable.

In the meantime I’m becoming preoccupied with my level of fitness. Well, non-fitness. I am walking regularly but it’s a trickle, you know? In fact, I’m still on the road to Rivendell. True, I’m much closer now than I was a year ago, but I rather hoped I’d have made it by now. The end approacheth though, and I am going to try to step it up. I’ll have a several mile a day goal or something. I have stayed about the same weight all of 2007 and it is just not acceptable.

My plan of action then, is:

  • Quit ignoring WW points.
  • Walk lots.
  • Maybe throw in some workout videos.

It worked in 2006, anyway.

yarny bits, aka another hat post

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Here is what I’ve done in the last coupla days. I could make many, many more hats and probably not run out of yarn. The stuff just won’t go away!

grey brown sheep crocheted beanie purple/green bumpy hat

red and gold hat blue and yellow swish superwash hat

And something fun: I received a lovely gift from fellow Crafty Witch Jenn today in the form of a crocheted baby dragon (pictured below) and a beaded dealthy hallows sign which unfortunately for you and fortunately for me is on my neck so I don’t have a picture. Hee!

lookie, another quilt block

Gryffindor quilt block

Again from a pattern by ofenjen. This about sums up the extent of my crafty productivity since my last post, except for the socks I’m making for the Crafty Witch project that I’ve yet to photograph or post about.

Zip, clatter, zoom, whoosh. I’m off again. Justin’s been out of town and the kids and I are headed to Norman tonight for my guitar lesson (Susan’s keeping an eye on the kids for a bit) and then Sit n Stitch.

PS, there is an adorable kitten hanging on the landing outside my door and it’s very adorable. It has a collar though, so yeah. Go away kitty!

back at it?

Hi. Anyone still here?

I’ve been in such a funk lately, but I’m hopeful it’s lifting. I’ve wanted to do nothing but hide under my desk for weeks. Wrockstock did a lot to help me cheer up, but then I fell ill on the drive home. Now I’m feeling pretty good if not a bit congested and gross.

Today there was crafting! Well, part of yesterday and then this morning. Behold, my first attempt at paper piecing:
Hogwarts Crest Block

Mom-in-law dropped off a shopping bag full of scraps from one of her quilter friends this weekend, so there was pah-lenty to work with. Then Jen posted her most recent block pattern and I went to work. I’m so happy.

If you haven’t seen Jen’s stuff before, please consider checking out the hp_paperpiecing LJ group.

Anywho.. I’ve got a few fun things in the works so here’s hoping I stay on this side of the desk for awhile.
