When I Grow Up

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I hope you took my hint last week, went over to Shimelle’s, and signed up for her latest class. She surprised me recently by inviting to be a guest artist and to create a sample to go with her prompts. Her classes are always so cool and so worth it. Hope I’ll be seeing you there!

Someone might have told me that I should maybe tell you to that if you’re the scrapbooking and/or art journaling type, or if you’re the type that simply likes me and is compelled to check out things just because I say so without much further information, that you sorta might be interested in this link: When I Grow Up

I shall say no more, for now.

You Think You Know Me

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

Here I go again. Another of Shimelle’s classes.

The first order of business is to post a pic of myself with my “workbook,” a role of which I assigned to one of my many blank Moleskines.

Stay tuned for more. I need to spend some more time writing.

When will I ever catch up to life?

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

I was thrown off course when Callie died, and fell way behind on the Every Day thing. Took care of some of that today, though.

Now if I can only (quickly) finish my various knitting projects and large cross stitch project. Oh yeah, and the whole podcast thing, too.

Creative title, eh?

Caught up on some Learn Something New pages.

BTW, I’m sorry if it is frustrating that I don’t post close up pictures of each page. Mostly I don’t because they’re very simple (very, very) so there is not really much in the detail to see, and also because they’re just little notes to myself. Really it is just about showing that I’ve done the work, lol!

Things to do today:
Knit. (Very close to the end of chart 5 of Peacock, wheee!)
Muster up some creativity to take and post an SPS.

September 11 - September 14

Just, you know, to let ya know I’m still doing it :) I think I already have a statement for today’s page.

Proof

Monday, September 11th, 2006

I have done my scrapbooking!

Here are all the pages from between the last time I posted and now. My favorite one is the one that says “Someday I’m going to run out of finger to chew.”

quickie update

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

Here’s my “Learn Something” page for the day:

And a Callie update: I’ve found something she’ll actually eat, and wholeheartedly… Tuna. She gets this as a reward for me ramming her pill down her throat. Here she is on the counter waiting for more of her beloved:

hiss, spit

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

While we were out of town last week, the puppers went and stayed with their doggie-Grandparents, Shelly and Kim. We’re very thankful that we had a place to send them that we were sure was safe and loving. (Thanks again, *mwah*)

Remus and Ginevra came home Wednesday night and since they did so well running with the pack -outdoors and in- at their birthplace, we have started transitioning them to more out-of-the-crate time. It is going well of course. The puppies know where the door is if they need to go out, and in the meantime they have fun running circles around the couch and licking the kids til they can’t stand it any longer.

They’re also learning quickly which of the cats dont mind a good sniffing, and which ones are best to stay clear of at all times. I’ve always employed the method of “let them find out on their own” when introducing puppies to the cats that are already there. The cats do the teaching. As long as you’re there to supervise and keep them safe, it is the most natural and quick way to show them what their boundaries are.

So today’s “Learn Something New Every Day” page goes with this theme:

something about September

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Truly, there is something about September that brings me alive. Or something similar that sounds less hokey. Or maybe I just get excited because it’s my birth month. Anywho.

Last year when September started, I decided that *every day*of that month I’d do something arty. It turned out that it was mostly an ATC a day, but I made sure to at least work in my art journal or something for a little bit daily. Certainly a little artiness a day can’t hurt, if not make life somewhat more exciting.

This year I didn’t have to put much thought into it. Last week, Shimelle announced a class that will run throughout September called “Learn Something New Every Day,” in which “we’ll make thirty entries … getting your eyes open to observing your world.” Signed right up for that one.

So my pals of the scrapbooking persuasion might be mildly shocked to see that I have done some scrapbookish work today and that I intend to every day of the month for the duration. Here is my title page:

It doesn’t deviate too horribly much from Shim’s sample page, but you know me; I’ll be all over the place before we’re done.

Those who have known me awhile know that I’ve done Shimelle’s Art Journal Challenge courses in the past and have already had to hear me recommend them repeatedly. To those who haven’t, do keep an eye on her site and consider signing up when new courses are announced. I am sorta sappy; I have a compulsion to encourage everyone to find a creative outlet of some sort and see what pours out of them.
