Happy Holidays

Friday, December 21st, 2007

from me and Luna. (Well, plus 2 hobbits who reallyshouldbesleeping in the other room, Justin who is hopefully facilitating that, 2 lazy cats not in the frame, and 2 little hotdogs. Even if we crowded around the webcam, it would be a fantastic blur.)

So my blogginess has been pretty much nonexistent this month and the quality of content for the entire year or more has frankly been questionable. I’m not sure what the future holds for Quietish: The Blog. It is possible I’ll come back in 2008 with all of my wits and a nice helping of enthusiasm, but then I may come back to post a bloggy farewell. I go back and forth.

We’re out of town for the holidays starting tomorrow before the sun is up. I hope the next week brings me some clarity. And in the meantime, I hope you all have warm and blessed holidays.

been out of town for a week

Just got home. Did I miss anything big/important/exciting/amazing (any of the above)? Lemme know. Please and thank you.

I have managed to see not one but two of my closest (although not in distance) friends this weekend and have managed to take a whopping ZERO photos. If anyone happens to find my brain, please let me know. Be sure to check under your shoes. Thanks.

Gotta love the timer feature.

As you can see, Kelly was much more healthy by the time we said goodbye yesterday. I’m sure many are weary of hearing it from me, it sucks living so far from all of my bestest friends. I will just have to keep hoping that one day it wont be so. Although, I suppose the fantasy that everyone will move to the same part of the country is a bit of a stretch.

good and not so good things

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Good Thing #1: Kelly noticed a coupla weeks ago that we had a 3-day weekend coming up and invited me to meet her in Ft. Smith to hang out.

Corresponding Not-So-Good Thing #1: An over-sensationalized yet somewhat worrisome bit of weather showed up in the forecast for that same weekend.

Good Thing #2: We both made it from our respective starting points to our mutual arrival point with no problems whatsoever. Mary visited one evening as well.

Not-So-Good Thing #2: Kelly promptly fell ill.

Good Thing #3: We’re right across the street from the local ER.

Not-So-Good Thing #3 : I seem to have also sorta gotten sick.

Good Thing #4: The doctor gave me a prescription, too.

Not-So-Good Thing #4: This town has a shortage of decent pharmacies and none that care to stay open long enough to serve those that spend the larger portion of their night in the ER.

Good Thing#5: Kelly is freakin’ hilarious when she’s stoned.

Not-So-Good Thing #5: Kelly makes a hobby of puking in as many different places as possible, loudly.

Good Thing #6: One has a whole lot of time to knit while in the ER.

Not-So-Good Thing #6: One has a whole lot of time to knit while in the ER.

Good Thing #7: We are both feeling much better now.

Not-So-Good Thing #7: We spent the whole day today recovering and have to leave tomorrow morning. Wah!

Self-Portrait with my drugs and my sock, which now has a heel and gusset.

You can read Kelly’s account, here. Feel free to ask her about the oh-so-interesting drop-ceiling panels, the moment when she apparently flat-lined, the many sobbing sprees, and how we smashed up the hotel room.

I hope we remember to take a picture together tomorrow, when we’re rested and fully-dressed.

One of Two and Eleven of Thirteen

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Well, here it is folks: The last SPS of 2006.

This weekend I found myself with an opportunity to actually visit with my fellow Hive Queen in person. Smack in the middle of Missouri of all places. Now we’re nice and doubly depressed about the fact that we live hundreds of miles apart.

This is the least blurry of the pictures I got of us. Sorry you can only see a tiny bit of Julie. I’m hoping that some of the pictures on her camera came out alright.

And, of course, the all important shot of our handknit socks-in-use.

Check back next week for a post about about continuing or joining up with SPS in 2007.

holiday pictures

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

I certainly dropped off the planet this weekend, didn’t I? Well, our lot traveled down to be with the Texas lot for Christmas. I figured I could make up the recently skipped SPSes with a couple of the group shots we got thanks to brother-in-law Chris’ new tripod. (Photo credit Chris Waits, etc, etc)

I think by the time we did the pictures of the 4 of us, we had passed the number-of-pictures-in-which-hobbits-can-look-directly-at-the-camera limit.

We had an excellent weekend, though. Lots of good presents and food and visiting. How was yours?
