not a soy cardi

Posted on March 12th, 2008

I actually have been knitting this week. Since it’s the first project I’ve actually followed through past the first few inches (yes, I did indeed rip out the Clementine) I thought it’d be worth posting the proof. Otherwise yeah, the knitting mojo is not really there.

Soy Cardi
There are more photos if you click the pic and poke around in my photostream.

Anyway, this is The Soy Cardi (That is a pdf). Just not, you know, made out of soy. It’s actually yarn I reclaimed from my Simple Knitted Bodice, which fit a bit funny and never really got worn.

I’m glad to have a little project perfect for the upcoming warm season. Black is so Springy, don’t you think?

Wacky Wednesday

Posted on March 5th, 2008

Today was Wacky Wendesday at school. We went back and forth for awhile about what would be wacky enough for Jamie to wear while still being able to function in class. We ended up with a tutu from Jamie’s tap recital last year, snow boots, glitter hair spray, and quidditch goggles. Mrs. Cloud laughed maniacally at the sight of her.

Cian wanted his picture taken too. Of course :)

from my perch

Posted on February 29th, 2008

When it’s been weeks since one has posted anything on her blog, it is really hard to know where to pick back up again. In such an instance, one is very tempted to delete everything and start from scratch. You know, come up with a gimmick or at least a blog theme instead of the catch-all thing that Quietish is. Being that the problem in the first place is lack of motivation to post however, obviously I can’t be bothered scrape around for some creativity.

So I thought I might update on what I’ve been up to for the past weeks. That’ll be fun, right? In no discernible order:

  • After years of not really watching much at all, we finally broke down and bought a (laughably small) HD TV for the bedroom. We then hooked it up to cable. This event strangely coincides with the time my friends noticed that I quit signing onto my instant messengers. Funny, that.
  • In a related note, I am writing to you now from my new favorite spot of the apartment (the perch on my bed directly in front of said TV) with an extra computer Justin scrounged up for me. The pictures following were also taken from The Perch. I only needed to lean over and grab the camera out of my purse. This will explain my lack of makeup or brushed hair.
  • Because we all know I needed another hobby, Justin and I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons every weekend with friends Matt and Mary Ellen, and lately some newer friends from nearby Charlie Bean. I am currently a Level 5 Halfling Rogue. Fear me.
  • Yes I’ve been knitting some. I have not been excited enough to post about it though. You can see finished pics here, if you are so inclined.
  • Recently I discovered that my beloved Clapotis had a few small holes in it. I frogged it and have spent a few weeks thinking about what to use the yarn for next. I could have knit another Clappy, but I don’t think I have it in me. Until this morning I was thinking I’d make a shrug. A bit ago though, I decided on the Clementine Shawlette.

I have been fickle lately though, so I might get another inch in and frog it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  • I recently had a whole troup of Wizard Rockers roll into town for the Whomp The House tour and play a lovely show at Charlie Bean. I whined about Kelly not being there the whole time, but I had an excellent evening. I took very poor pictures. Sorry. You can see them here though.
  • The Oklahoma City area has a new Harry Potter fan group. We are bowling on Sunday. Please come, if you can. Potter people have lots of fun.
  • I changed my hair.

100th Day

Posted on February 4th, 2008

Hey, I was crafty this week last night the wee hours of this morning.

For the 100th day of school, and I know this sounds familiar to the all the moms with school aged kids, Jamie’s school (or at least the K and first graders) has a 100-things project. Jamie had to wear a shirt to day with 100 things on it.

I cut a bunch of hearts out of felt with my Sizzix (which I then donated to Jamie’s teacher because it was the only time I’ve used the thing in a few years!) and tied them all onto the front of the shirt.

Although a few of them came off within the first 10 minutes of class, she seemed to like it!

still walking to Rivendell

Posted on January 31st, 2008

I promise at some point soon I will do some craftblogging again. At the moment I am knitting and stitching a bit here and there and of course I continue to approach everything in a craftminded sort of way. I’ve just been bad about not putting it together in some way that’s presentable.

In the meantime I’m becoming preoccupied with my level of fitness. Well, non-fitness. I am walking regularly but it’s a trickle, you know? In fact, I’m still on the road to Rivendell. True, I’m much closer now than I was a year ago, but I rather hoped I’d have made it by now. The end approacheth though, and I am going to try to step it up. I’ll have a several mile a day goal or something. I have stayed about the same weight all of 2007 and it is just not acceptable.

My plan of action then, is:

  • Quit ignoring WW points.
  • Walk lots.
  • Maybe throw in some workout videos.

It worked in 2006, anyway.

a quick favor please

If you know that at some point I used to keep up with your blog, could you do me a favor and post the link for me here in the comments? Or email me even, I guess. I obliterated my bookmarks awhile back and I need to rebuild from scratch.

Heck, even if I haven’t ever seen your blog before post your link. I’m so out of touch.

Thankya!! <3 <3 <3
